Friends at Rachna welcome you to Small Town Film Club in Gangtok.

Small Town Film Club has been intitated by us with the purpose of -

  1. introducing good films and documentaries to the people of this part of the Himalaya;
  2. encouraging the youth to start making their own films and providing a platform for showcasing these films;
  3. networking with like-minded film appreciation clubs worldwide to reach the locally made films to wider audience and bring in films and festivals from elsewhere to the audiences here;
  4. inviting professionals and independent film-makers to interact with aspiring film-makers and students for technical support and guidance from time to time.

This is a non-profitable venture and our sole aim is to provide a contemporary, non competitive, non-political and liberal platform for using films - fictional or non-fictional, as a mode of expressing regional issues in a creative way.

With the ever increasing accessibility and affordability of new technologies, we believe film-making is a strong tool that the people here, specially the youth, can use to express and share the world as we know it.

We encourage the people here in the eastern Himalaya to try out the form of story-telling that film-making is.

We invite you to share your stories with us.
