Hello friends!
We are happy to announce that RACHNA now has opened a branch in Gangtok. Our sister bookshop is located at the lobby of Hotel Royal Plaza.
For the regulars at PUB 25 and Cafe Live & Loud, you must be already enjoying browsing and buying books displayed at the prominent book-spaces there.
We thank you readers and we thank our friends managing these service points for helping us bring books closer to you.
So what is the photo above all about? Well, here's the story...
If you happen to be in Phnom Penh city, you will surely visit the riverside for the grand view of the meeting point of the two rivers - the mighty Mekong and the phenomenal Tonle Sap.
The friendly Khamer people will advise that the best place to enjoy the view will be from the park beside the river along the Sisowath Quay. Along the quay, take the street going into the city from the corner cafe and turn the first right - you will run into the shop pictured above - RACHNA!
So did we open a branch there?
We wish!!
GET CAUGHT READING ;)

Hello Genteel People! I hope the season of the clouds and the rhythm of the rain is helping you create your own personal space to catch up on that much needed read.
Things have been exciting for the proud owner of your favourite bookshop. Rummaging through some old books in Grandpa's attic, I ran into an old map that you see above. No sooner, I was off with my backpack.
After over eight years of having enjoyed bringing stories and other worlds to you, I have taken a brief pause to come out and see some of those other worlds myself. Everyday has a highlight that's unforgettable, but this time around, the two days down the Magnificent Mekong River on a slow boat that I took has been the stuff one reads about in the stories. Classic experience!
I hope you have not been missing me too much. I hear that you have been regularly visiting the bookshop. Thanks for your support.
I am going to be back home in late October. I know it is a long time but you also know how good my homecoming stories are.
See you soon!
Your friendly neighbourhood Raman (who is in some other neighbourhood right now)

Greetings genteel people! It's that time of the year again when I head down to the city to buy books. For all those who have been complaining about the shelves at the bookshop getting emptier by the day, it will certainly come as a good news. So I'll be out and about, greedily buying books for you from 5th - 12th April. Soon after I return, you know it'll be time for this month's screening by Small Town Film Club! That's all lined up. (Psst.. we also got one more exciting project lined up for you, but I'm not talking yet!) Watch this space for announcements. I know you must be as excited as I am about the trip because you know what booty of books and stories I return with from such trips. If you have any book in mind, tell me. You know that I leave no publishers’ store-room unturned until I find it!

( As for the photo up there, it's just a random shot of a roadside second hand record store in Calcutta. Don't we love this city!)

From my book-shopping trip this time, among many other goodies,
a huge collection of BATMAN graphic novels and Manga comics for kids of all ages coming in Feb. "This town needs a better class of criminals," the Joker said. "This town needs a better class of comic books." said I.
